Project Overview
The second module, Core Digital Design Skills, was one of my favourites as it gave me the chance to step outside my comfort zone and learn a wide range of new software. I explored Adobe tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD and Premiere Rush, as well as web-based platforms such as Spline and Figma.
Throughout the module, I built a development portfolio where I documented all of my ‘demo and do’ projects from lessons. I also included off-the-job learning and personal projects, which helped track my progress and gave me space to experiment with different tools and styles. Some client-related projects are not shown here due to agreements but will be added in the future.
This work supports me in evidencing KSBs: K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, S1, S2, S4, S10, B1 and B2.

Project Reflection
This module pushed me in a lot of different directions. I felt confident using Photoshop and Illustrator, but tools like Spline, After Effects, and Figma were completely new to me and definitely challenging at first. InDesign was another one I didn’t enjoy at the time, as it felt really clunky to use; however, looking back, I can see just how important those ‘demo and do’ sessions were for my growth. I now use InDesign almost every day in the workplace, whether it’s setting brochures or posters for print or even just building presentation slides. I found that the layout features and printing aids are unmatched by this software, and I have benefited massively from learning it.
One moment that stood out was when I created this projects presentation in Illustrator. The file ended up so large that it nearly made me miss the deadline because it took so long to download and crashed my computer multiple times. That experience taught me to switch to InDesign for future projects and showed me why selecting the most effective software for the job can save you a lot of hassle.
What I valued most was being able to document everything in my development portfolio. It helped me track progress, include off-the-job learning, and reflect on how experimenting with different tools opened up my skillset. Some client-related projects aren’t shown here due to agreements, but will be added later.
