Project Overview
Over the summer, I used this project to develop my design skills, build evidence of my KSBs, and prepare myself for Level 5. I explored a wide range of design trends, with a focus on typography, packaging, and sports graphics. Visiting Beamish allowed me to study how design has evolved over time, from signage and posters to branding and packaging, and I compared this to what we see in today’s industry. I also captured my own photographs which I later used as inspiration for textures and visual references. By looking at both historical and modern examples, I was able to reflect on how trends influence the work I create and how they can be applied to my future projects in the workplace.
This supports me in evidencing KSBs: K1, K2, K3, K5, K16, S2, S5, S9, S10, S18, B1, B2, B6.
Project Reflection
This project was mainly research-based and gave me the chance to explore how design has developed through different periods. Visiting Beamish let me see the craft and detail behind older styles, which I then compared with modern trends to understand how design continues to evolve. I also captured my own photographs, which I can use for textures in my on-the-job work, making the research directly useful for future projects. Overall, the project has built my confidence in analysing design history and applying what I’ve learned to practical outcomes in the workplace.
This supports me in evidencing KSBs: K1, K2, K3, K5, K16, S2, S5, S18, B1, B2, B6.
